Only if they are painted with lead.

nope. But fires consume oxygen so if you’re in a small room with no windows or ventilation then the candle flame will be eating up your oxygen

Some of the WICKS have lead for some reason that I don’t quite understand, so you can assume when they burn, they will put lead dust in the air.

Pier 1 candles have LEAD-FREE wicks (plus they smell gooood). Check out their Web site for more info on this.

All candles release something into the air. Paraffin candles, which are the most common, are a petroleum product AND often use wicks containing lead. Both release toxins when burned. Contact me and I will direct you to a line of candles that are veggie and soy wax. These candles burn virtually soot free, no messy black stuff on your jars and walls. I have allergies and asthma and can burn the candles for hours with no problem.
